The highly cross-linked and rigid non-porous poly(styrene-divinylbenzene) (PS/DVB) particles are coated with a hydrophilic polymer layer that prevents non-specific binding. Uniform, densely packed functional ion exchange groups are chemically bonded to the hydrophilic layer (multiple ion exchange groups per anchorage) to increase column capacity. The resistance of the particles, coating and bonding to high pressures enables higher resolution and faster separations. The product is suitable for a wide pH and temperature range.
