Pursuit diphenyl columns are ideal for the separation of compounds containing double bonds or aromatic rings. In contrast to functional groups such as C18 or phenylhexyl, whose retention mechanism is based on hydrophobic interactions, diphenyl separates primarily due to differences in the π-electron structure.
