In 1900, master surgical mechanic Carl Bruno Bayha founded a surgical mechanics company in Tuttlingen. The first interchangeable knife, created in 1927, laid the foundation for today's scalpel system. This marked the beginning of the production of scalpel blades and separate scalpel handles. Today, the BAYHA scalpel system is a high-quality and renowned branded. The BAYHA range consists of sterile and non-sterile scalpel blades, the corresponding scalpel handles and various accessories such as protective caps.
BAYHA brand scalpels are safe to use, very sharp and of excellent quality. A major advantage is that the blades are replaceable. A locking system allows the blade to be removed and replaced without touching it. A blade remover is not necessary. The blade sits firmly in the handle, guaranteeing the scalpel to be used safely and precisely. In addition, all blades fit into any handle.

Sterile scalpel blades are mainly utilised in surgery, veterinary medicine and laboratories. Universities need scalpels for medical training in dissection courses. Non-sterile blades are also used as industrial scalpels or precision knives.
