Dr. Ammer's hydrometer, with WG thermometer +10+50°C and temperature correction, approx. 300mm long, scale value 0.1 °Bé, standard temperature 20°C.
The hydrometers are for the examination of kettle ice cream
The density of liquids can be measured with hydrometers.
Density is the ratio of mass to volume of a substance and is expressed in g/ml or g/cm3.
Transparent and opaque liquids must be measured with differently standardized hydrometers.
Hydrometers for opaque liquids are marked with a green color ring.
- - Reference temperature for density measurements = 20°C.
- - Hydrometers are set to this temperature.
- - Standard temperature measuring range from 0°C to +35°C.
Each hydrometer is designed for a specific measuring situation.
Influencing factors are:
- temperature
- surface tension
- density.
