The Colilert-18 test kit from IDEXX is designed to detect and quantify coliforms or E.coli in drinking and spring water or fecal coliforms in wastewater. The test is easy to use as it does not require any additional media preparation steps due to its ready-to-use individual tests. Furthermore, Colilert-18 has a long shelf life of up to 15 months from date of manufacture. Colilert-18 is approved after TrinkwV as alternative procedure.

Colilert®-18 has been approved by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) as the new standard 9308-2:2012. It also meets the ISO 11133:2014 standard.
