The analytical balance represents the most sensitive form of a precision balance. As a rule, it has a resolution of 0.1 mg and serves to weigh out extremely small mass fractions. Even more accurate balances with a resolution of 1 microgram are called microbalances. Analytical scales work according to the principle of the compensated torque, which is generated by the mass to be measured. This is then compensated by an electromagnetic force. Since the scales are very sensitive, fingerprints or humidity on the samples can lead to incorrect results. Therefore the sample container must be completely empty and dried completely in a desiccator.

Kern School Balances are particularly easy to operate and offer an excellent price/performance ratio. The entry-level devices can also be operated by battery as an alternative to mains power - for maximum flexibility.

Thanks to high-quality measuring principles, such as force compensation or tuning fork measuring principle, Kern's Standard Laboratory Balances allow use in batching processes with very small weight changes and fast display. All standard laboratory balances have a formulation function and data interfaces, and some models are also equipped with an internal automatic calibration function.
Kern Premium Laboratory Balances can be operated even more efficiently and save time, and are used in particular in demanding laboratory applications or when ambient conditions pose a special challenge due to vibrations or other interference. A typical field of application for these balances is the pharmaceutical industry, which is subject to particularly far-reaching requirements.
