Tryptone Soy Agar + LTHTh - ICR in 150 mm sedimentation plates (non-sealable) was developed for the determination of total aerobic microorganism counts in the air through active or passive air monitoring, as well as for fingerprinting personnel in isolators and clean rooms. It is a complex medium for the cultivation and isolation of many bacteria, yeasts, and molds. The formulation of the Casein Soy Peptone medium contains a combination of casein and soy peptones and provides organic nitrogen, particularly amino acids and longer-chain peptides. Sodium chloride maintains osmotic balance, and the medium is supplemented with pyruvate to inactivate hydrogen peroxide residues. Lecithin, polysorbate 80 (Tween®), histidine, and sodium thiosulfate are deinhibitors for inactivating residues of disinfectants such as alcohol (70% ethanol or isopropyl alcohol), aldehyde, dichloroisocyanurate, glucoprotamine, peracetic acid, chlorides, phenols, biguanides, and quaternary ammonia compounds.
