With the Thermo Scientific Oxoid Signal Blood Culture System you can detect the growth of aerobic, anaerobic and microaerophilic organisms from blood samples. The Signal Blood Culture System is a unique manual, single-bottle media system for all patient populations and scenarios. The system uses a special broth that can be used to culture a wide variety of aerobic, anaerobic and microaerophilic organisms in a single bottle. A positive result is obtained when the blood-broth mixture is forced into the signal module by the pressure generated by growing organisms.

• Easily interpretable results: The Signal Blood Culture System detects gases produced during organism metabolism. This causes a pressure increase in the sealed bottle, forcing a portion of the blood/broth solution into the Signal growth indicator chamber, providing a clear, positive reading.
• Reduced Contamination: The removable lid on the indicator allows samples to be taken directly from the sample chamber, rather than the bottle broth, reducing the risk of potential contamination.
• Cost-effective: Does not require sophisticated laboratory equipment; only one bottle is needed to detect most aerobic, anaerobic and microaerophilic organisms.
• Additional Features: Although designed primarily for the culture of organisms from human blood samples, the Signal Blood Culture System is also effective in isolating organisms from other body fluids, including joint, abdominal and CAPD (continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis) fluid. It has also been shown to be effective in veterinary medicine.
