For cultivating a variety of demanding organisms on Thermo Scientific Blood Agar (TSA with sheep blood), a non-selective universal medium and diagnostic tool The addition of sheep blood promotes the development and visualization of the hemolysis reactions.
Tryptone-soy agar (casein peptone-soy flour peptone agar) with defibrinated sheep blood is suitable for the cultivation of demanding aerobic and anaerobic bacteria, the latter in overlaid cultures or by incubation under anaerobic conditions. By combining digested casein peptone and soy flour peptone with papain digestion, optimal growth is achieved in which the casein provides the proteins and the soybeans provide the carbohydrates. By enriching with sterile defibrinated sheep blood, the hemolysis properties of various bacteria such as streptococci, listeria, hemolytic staphylococci, Escherichia coli and Pseudomonas can be produced.
