Macconkey Agar, without Salt

Thermo Scientific™ MacConkey Agar without salt allows you to detect and count coliform organisms in clinical samples. The differential medium suppresses the swarming of Proteus species and is therefore recommended for urine testing in the investigation of suspected urinary tract infection (UTI). MacConkey agar without salt has the same formulation as MacConkey agar except that it contains no additional salt and therefore provides a 'low electrolyte medium' on which most Proteus species will not proliferate. The medium has proved particularly useful in the analysis of urine samples, preventing overgrowth of other organisms.
