The Japanese manufacturer Ceri is well known for the reversed phase HPLC column series “L-column”. At Analytics-Shop.com you will find the L-column, L-column2 and L-column3 series from Ceri. Ceris’s L-column series enables separation only by hydrophobic interaction because of inhibition of the secondary interaction with residual silanol groups and metal impurities.
Our assortment includes established, high performance standard C18 columns (L-column ODS) as well as wide pore C18 columns for the analysis of proteins and peptides (L-Column ODS-P), the high performance standard octyl column L-column C8 and the all-around column L-column3 which is capable of method designs for a wide range of pH values.

Ceri’s L-column ODS was introduced in 1984 as a column whose secondary interaction with the residual silanol groups was eliminated by a new end-capping method using high-temperature silylation. The L-column2 was developed by upgrading this new-generation end-capping method. These RP-HPLC columns are capable of both handling various issues of trace analysis due to the polarization of LC/MS (/MS) and providing advanced analytical precision.
The L-column2 ODS series can be used for the analyses of acidic, basic and coordination compounds. L-column2 ODS is perfectly end-capped, so it does not adsorb analytes using any composition of eluents and provides a superior peak shape. Therefore, it can be used in a wide range of compositions of eluents.
The residual silanol groups of L-column and L-column2 are almost entirely eliminated. Therefore, peak tailing derived from the residual silanol groups does not occur using L-column ODS. Its high durability, even in acidic or basic eluents, minimizes deterioration. Although it is silica-based, it shows superior durability even under alkaline conditions due to the extremely dense end-capping. L-column2 ODS has superior durability under high pH conditions due to the protection of the silica surface afforded by the advanced end-capping process. Variation between product lots due to residual silanol groups is prevented by superior end-capping. Regardless of the product lot, L-column2 ODS provides the same results in HPLC analyses because of thorough quality control.
Ceri’s L-column3 offers very high resistance to alkaline, and packing materials are designed to be robust. In addition, it performs similar high resistance to neutrality and acidity. L-column3 can be used as an all-around column capable of method design for a wider range of pH values.
L-column3 shows a sharp peak not only for basic compounds but also for acidic compounds and coordination compounds. It demonstrates low adsorptivity at the top level for various analytes and provides an ideal peak shape.
The deterioration of the silica-based column is promoted when used for a 100% aqueous eluent for a long period of time. Since the packing materials for L-column3 have very high chemical stability, the column is stable for long periods of time even when used for the 100% aqueous eluent.
