Filter papers can be used in the laboratory to separate solid particles from liquids and gases. The absorbent, porous fibre fleeces are made of natural and synthetic, organic and inorganic fibres. Some are chemically treated or impregnated with synthetic resins to obtain specific properties. Ash-free paper filters for quantitative analyses and qualitative filter papers with an ash content of approx. < 0.1% are available. Analytics-Shop also offers a wide range of different types of filters for the laboratory, such as round filters, sheet filters and pleated filters.
Paper filters are available as pleated filters for funnels, round filters for applications such as Buchner funnels, or as sheets. Depending on the fiber structure of the paper, the filtration properties vary, and thus so do the areas of application. The separation range can span from particles as small as 1 µm to over 20 µm. For filtration under pressure or vacuum, special filter papers are available that have high wet strength due to the addition of resin.
