For the quality control of powders or granules, the knowledge and strict monitoring of the particle size distribution is an important component: The particle size distribution has a direct influence on the physical and chemical properties of solids and a constant product quality can only be guaranteed with the same grain distribution. Our range of analytical sieves and sieving machines, e.g. from Haver & Boecker, fulfills the increasing demands on grain size analysis and enables easy, fast, reproducible and precise analyzes.

Test sieves are used for reliable and reproducible results in the context of quality assurance. Retsch test sieves correspond to the standards ISO 3310 or ASTM E11. Prior to delivery, each sieve is optically measured and granted a test report. Due to extensive optical inspection Retsch offers excellent product quality as well as many more advantages:
Test sieves are analytical instruments and should be treated with care. Before test sieves are used for the first time, they ideally should be rinsed with ethanol or isopropanol to remove any preservative residues. After the sieving process the sieving fractions are removed from the sieves. By gently tapping the inverted sieve frame on bench surfaces, dry sieve gauze can be removed. If necessary, brush the bottom of the gauze gently with a fine hair brush. Test sieves with a mesh size < 500 µm should be cleaned in ultrasonic cleaning baths for 2-3 minutes and can be dried by placing the test sieves vertically in laboratory ovens at <80°C. During the sieving process, the samples should not be forced through the wire gauze to maintain the high quality of sieve body and gauze. When not in use, test sieves should be stored in a dry and dust-free location.
Test sieve shakers produce exact and reproducible results and comply with the requirements for the test materials monitoring according to DIN EN ISO 9000 ff. Sieving machines by Retsch cover a wide measuring range. Thanks to various sieving motions and sieve sizes it is possible to select the ideal instrument for practically any bulk material.

EasySieve, the software for particle size analyses is able to automatically control and document the necessary measurement and weighing procedures. All available parameters such as sieve stack configuration, dead weight of the sieve, sieve shaker settings as well as the characteristics, which may have to be calculated, can be entered. The program accepts automatic and manual data entries from both scale and sieve system. The sieve shakers of the series “control” can be automatically controlled with EasySieve. The loaded sieves are reweighed after the sieve analysis. By determining the weight difference, the program automatically detects the mass proportions. The EasySieve software calculates particle distributions, the characteristic values of the particle size, cumulative throughput or residual values and distribution density and presents the results in tables or charts.
With test sieve shakers by Haver&Boecker sieve analysis of up to 3kg sample weight is convenient and precise. HAVER EML 200 digital plus for test sieves with diameters of up to 203 mm can be used for dry and wet sieving of 3 kg bulk material maximum. You can set and store sieving time, interval and amplitude for reproducible sieving results. The 3D laboratory sieve shaker saves time and manual re-sieving. The self-readjusting amplitude enables comparable sieving results. Test sieves can be changed easily by using the quick-release clamping system TwinNut. Further, memory of 99 sieving programs, low-noise and maintenance free operating are advantages of HAVER test sieve shakers.
The HAVER CSA 5.0 software enables precise and easy PC-aided analysis of standard sieve systems. The results of measurements are documented for quality control and can be introduced into statistics and reports due to the complex data processing. Three versions of this software are available which differ in the scale of functions.
