Force Performance LC columns are the result of more than 20 years of experience in liquid chromatography and they are characterized by durability and reproducibility, even under the stresses of UHPLC. Their world-class quality is backed by our 100% satisfaction guarantee. And perhaps most importantly, Force columns are fully scalable between 3 or 5 µm HPLC and 1.8 µm UHPLC, so you can easily transfer and optimize methods without extensive calculations. Use Force LC columns for all your HPLC and UHPLC instrument platforms.
The innovative Biphenyl phase is Restek's most popular stationary phase because it is particularly well suited for separating compounds that are difficult to resolve or elute early on C18 columns and other phenyl phases. Therefore, biphenyl columns are extremely useful for bioanalytical testing applications such as drug and metabolite analysis, especially those requiring a mass spectrometer (MS). Increasing the retention of early eluting compounds can limit ionization suppression, and the increased selectivity helps eliminate the need for complex mobile phases that are not well suited for MS detection.
Stationary phase category: phenyl (L11)
Ligand type: Biphenyl
Particle: 1.8 µm, 3 μm, or 5 μm fully porous silica
Pore size: 100 Å
Carbon loading: 15
Endcapping: yes
Surface area: 300 m2/g
Recommended use:
pH range: 2.0-8.0
Maximum temperature: 80 °C
Maximum pressure: 1034 bar/15000 psi* (1.8 μm), 600 bar/8700 psi (3 μm); 400 bar/5800 psi (5 μm). For maximum life, the recommended maximum pressure for 1.8 μm sized particles is 830 bar/12000 psi.
Features:
Increased retention for dipolar, unsaturated or conjugated solutes.
Improved selectivity when used with methanolic mobile phase.
Ideal for increasing sensitivity and selectivity in LC-MS analyses.
Switch to a biphenyl column:
If you notice limited selectivity on a C18 column.
When you need to increase the retention of hydrophilic aromatics.
Note: We strongly recommend that you only order a semi-preparative or preparative column once you have evaluated the desired separation on an equivalent column on an analytical scale.
Because we cannot reuse a column or the silica within it once it leaves our facility, we cannot accept returns of large columns.
